Expanding on the images of Dec 12th, these are 9x12 canvases based on the smaller studies of the Somerville skyline. The city scape and roofs are getting more abstract and flat. The sky has depth even as it reverses the color scheme of the natural spectrum of sun set hues. In general this is an unintentional quality of my paintings that I am recognizing now.
I’ve started some larger paintings. The foreground and middle ground seem flat and less real while the sky and horizon are deeper…more spatial. It may be that the foreground subject requires more detail and skilled technique which I simply don’t have yet. Or maybe this is just how I paint!
