We’ve talked and debated twice, maybe more
As we looked out on the late afternoon
Light. What is it to have a practice - of
Life? What is it to practice it at all?
We see the values in the wet, stilled air,
And make a pact of rigor and habit.
Outdoor rooms hold us as we structure the
Day in tasks of making, writing, breathing.
Do you remember questioning habit
And ritual? Meditation? Stillness?
Grounded in breath, not to grasp, to observe
And let it pass, intent and curious.
We think about the summer light now and
Wonder, finally, will it be enough?
