Late Spring
a late spring suddenly gives way to summer - and then you’re in it
the humidity - the song birds have moved on - the shade in the dark woods is now appealing
the warm afternoon concedes mercifully to dusk
remember when you learned as a kid that summer vacation was only 10 weeks long
you could have sworn it was half the year - with your friends in the early evening light
arguing balls and strikes - starting to notice the fireflies
